The Origin

Brandon Trost grew up surrounded by the craft of filmmaking. With a cinematographer father, he was exposed to the art and science of capturing light from an early age. But it was at The Los Angeles Film School that Brandon developed the technical fluency and creative vision that would define his career.

At LAFS, Brandon trained on professional camera systems and developed the visual storytelling instincts that would catch the attention of Hollywood directors. The hands-on approach to cinematography — shooting, lighting, and composing in real production environments — gave him the practical foundation to step onto professional sets.

After graduating, Brandon quickly built a reputation for bold, kinetic visual style. He became the go-to cinematographer for a new generation of comedy and action directors who wanted their films to look as dynamic as they felt.

Today, Brandon's cinematography credits include some of the most distinctive-looking studio films of the past two decades — from The Disaster Artist to This Is the End to Halloween II.

"Every frame is a painting. The light, the shadow, the composition — they all speak before the actors say a word."
