The Origin

Ari Levine's path to the top of the music industry began at The Los Angeles Recording School. Drawn to the technical side of music — the engineering, the production, the art of crafting a record — Ari came to LARS to build the foundation that would allow him to work at the highest level.

At LARS, Ari developed fluency in recording engineering, signal flow, and studio production. The hands-on training gave him the technical vocabulary to walk into any studio and get to work — a skill that would prove invaluable as he built his career.

Ari's breakthrough came when he teamed up with Philip Lawrence and a young singer-songwriter named Bruno Mars to form The Smeezingtons — a production trio that would go on to shape the sound of pop music in the 2010s.

Together, The Smeezingtons co-produced Bruno Mars' Doo-Wops & Hooligans and Unorthodox Jukebox, and produced Cee Lo Green's Grammy-nominated 'F**k You' (Forget You) — one of the most iconic pop songs of the decade.

"A great record is about feeling. You can have the best technique in the world, but if it doesn't make you move, it doesn't matter."
